California DMV chooses Esper to modernize rulemaking and policy management

Austin, TX—Esper, a leading provider of policy management software, today announced their recent partnership with the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

The California Department of Motor Vehicles is the largest DMV in the country. As of the state’s 2017 Vehicle Statistics for Publication, it maintains records for over 30 million individuals, nearly 34 million driver’s licenses and/or identification cards and over 35 million vehicles.

With a track record of innovation, the California DMV was looking to modernize their rulemaking and policy management. This led to the California DMV strategically partnering with Esper.

The California DMV will be leveraging Esper’s Software as a Service (SaaS) platform to consolidate their rulemaking processes into a single source of truth—breaking down a previously siloed approach to policymaking.

Esper’s partnership with the California DMV allows them to streamline and automate their rulemaking workflows, improve regulatory research, eliminate siloed policymaking and support greater collaboration throughout the department.

Esper’s partnership with the California DMV comes on the heels of a successful product launch with the California State Treasurer’s Office (STO). California STO will also be using Esper’s enterprise-grade policy management software to modernize and streamline policymaking in the agency’s Debt Limit Allocation Committee (CDLAC) and Tax Credit Allocation Committee (CTCAC).

CDLAC and CTCAC are able to automate both committee’s policy workflows and approval processes, easily search all of their regulations, laws and policy documents and collaboratively draft amendments and repeals from the same platform.
